The openers gave them a solid start putting on a 99 run stand. Then came the massive 174 run partnership between the two centurions, Sangakkara and Paranavitana. Sanga was looking ominous with those trademark sweep shots of his. He went on to make his 23rd Test century leaving the Indian bowlers clueless. The wicket was flat and there was nothing on offer for the bowlers today as the hosts scored 312 runs for the loss of just two wickets.
