Tottenham Hotspur vs Wolverhampton Wanderers Match Report
Doyle netted the only goal of the game after just three minutes with a close-range header and gave Wolves their first victory at White Hart Lane since 1973.

It was only Wolves' second away victory of the season but will give them a major confidence boost as they look to steer clear of a relegation dogfight.

Mick McCarthy's side got off to the perfect start when they opened the scoring after just three minutes.

Nenad Milijas curled a free-kick into the box and Doyle rose the highest to flick a close-range header past Tottenham keeper Heurelho Gomes into the corner of the net.

Jermain Defoe had a quiet start to the game but nearly got his name on the scoresheet on 21 minutes when he fired a 25-yard shot which produced a comfortable save from Marcus Hahnemann.

Tottenham were dominating the proceedings and blew another chance to grab an equaliser on 43 minutes when Niko Kranjcar's ball into the box fell to Tom Huddlestone who dragged his shot inches past the post.

Despite Tottenham creating all the best openings, it was Wolves who could have added a second just 60 seconds into the second half.

Sylvan Ebanks-Blake broke free of the Tottenham defence and fired a low shot which produced a fine save from Gomes diving low to his right.

Redknapp was desperate to turn things around and made a double substitution on 58 minutes by bringing on Peter Crouch and Luka Modric for the ineffective Robbie Keane and Wilson Palacios.

The move almost paid off on 77 minutes when Vedran Corluka's cross into the box fell to his Croatian colleague Kranjcar, who was totally unmarked inside the box, but he fired his shot wide of the post.

Wolves keeper Hahnemann then produced the save of the match on 81 minutes.

Huddlestone fired a powerful shot which look destined for the top corner, but the American keeper produced a superb one-handed save diving away to his left to hand Wolves a priceless three points.

2:19 GOAL - Kevin Doyle:(Tottenham 0 - 1 Wolverhampton) Wolves take an early lead, Kevin Doyle nodding in a well-delivered Nenad Milijas free-kick.

Wolves manager Mick McCarthy:

"Marcus Hahnemann's not been diving around making saves everywhere. I expect my keeper to have to make saves when we go to Spurs.

"Possession and passes and switching play - really good stuff at times from Spurs but Marcus made one really good save and no, we haven't been mullered.

"They've to work like that every game. If we have passengers we're knackered."
Tottenham manager Harry Redknapp:

"It was frustrating - we conceded early on and then could not break them down.

"We had lots of possession but we did not find that cutting edge to open them up. We probably had 80% of the possession but they defended very well.

"Full credit to Wolves - Mick McCarthy has done a great job there."
