Points Delhi Daredevils 2, Kings XI Punjab 0
Player of the match G Gambhir (Delhi Daredevils)

Chasing a moderate target of 142, they lost Sehwag and Dilshan early but Gambhir buckled down and collected the runs at ease in the company of Karthik and Manhas to steer the Daredevils to a tense 5 wickets win in the final over. Kings XI Punjab did well to stifle the runs in the middle but were just not able to maintain the pressure consistently on the batsmen.

Gambhir: This is my second MoM award in the IPL and I'm happy that the team won. I never thought I have to play the captain's innings, I just went out there looking to get as many runs as I can. Dinesh Karthik and Mithun Manhas played really well and happy that we are starting the season with a win. Dirk Nannes is a fantastic bowler and I hope he will always be in our side and hope we may not have to face him.
Gambhir is the Man of the Match for his splendid knock of 72 runs
Sangakkara: We did not bat well. Had a quite of an ok start but recovered quickly thanks to Bopara and Pathan. We need to appreciate the efforts put in by Irfan, Sreesanth and Chawla. We have to put this loss behind and look to play well in our forthcoming matches. We almost got there today but we were not good enough at the end.
The classic catch award goes to Farveez Maharoof
The maximum sixes award goes to Kumar Sangakkara.
