Manchester United vs Wolverhampton Wanderers Match Report:
Goalkeeper Marcus Hahnemann was the only survivor from their unexpected 1-0 win at White Hart Lane.
While United were far from their best, they did enough to repair some of the damage done from their single goal home reverse to Aston Villa on the same day.
In as low a key Premier League encounter as you can get, it took United half-an-hour to break the deadlock.
Wolves defender Ronald Zubar went up for a Darron Gibson corner with United skipper Nemanja Vidic, only to inexplicably hook the ball away with his hand in the box.
Referee Steve Bennett pointed to the spot and Wayne Rooney sent the resulting penalty beyond the diving Hahnemann right footed into the top left-hand corner of the net.
It was Rooney's 13th goal of the season and his fourth from the penalty spot.
United's second goal came two minutes before the interval.
Gibson drove another corner into the centre of the Wolves penalty area and Vidic powered his way forward to meet the ball with his bullet header from ten yards squirming through Hahnemann's hands and into the net.
United completed the scoring in the 66th minute with the best of their three goals.
Paul Scholes found Dimitar Berbatov on the right side of the Wolves box and his overhead kick fell nicely for Luis Antonio Valencia to rifle a right-foot shot into the roof of the net from 12 yards.
The goals apart, chances were few and far between.
Rooney went close early on with a neat turn and shot which was deflected inches wide of a post, while Danny Welbeck and Patrice Evra brought comfortable saves from Hahnemann late on.
Wolves' best chances fell to George Friend, but his poor finishes from close range were much too kind to the United goal.

Wolves manager Mick McCarthy made ten changes from the side which won at Spurs last Saturday and it was no surprise that his team slumped to defeat against Manchester United at Old Trafford.
