Canadian rockstar Bryan Adams creates history with Nepal’s first rock concert featuring an international star at the Bryan Adams live-in-concert in the Dasharath Stadium in the Capital on Saturday, February 19, 2011.
Canadian rock star Bryan Adams performed before thousands of screaming fans at the Dashrath Stadium, Kathmandu Saturday evening. Adams sang over a dozen songs including popular songs like Summer of ’69, Here I am, 18 Till I Die, Heaven, and Everything I Do and mesmerized the over 20,000 audience.
The Grammy award winner arrived in Kathmandu earlier today afternoon for the performance. He landed at the Tribhuvan International Airport at around 2:00 pm on a private jet accompanied by 40 assistants. He will leave Kathmandu on Sunday.
Nepali bands and singers Robin & The New Revolution, Raju Lama of Mongolian Heart and Ishwor Gurung & Namaste Band played their popular numbers in the 2,600 square feet stage before Adams took the stage to enthrall the audience with his smash hit numbers.
The sound and lighting equipments were brought from India and London for the mega concert which took place amid huge presence of security personnel.
Nepal Police had earlier made special security arrangements for Adams’ security. Over 5000 policemen that included Armed Police Force (APF) were deployed for the security in and around the stadium and 64 Closed Circuit Television (CCTV) cameras were installed in the concert area to monitor the security situation.
Audiences were not allowed to take water bottles and any hard materials inside the concert venue for security reasons.
Tickets for the concert were priced at Rs 2000, 3000 and 6000. However, the gates of Dashrath Stadium later opened for hundreds of fans listening to Adams from outside.
Adams is the first ever internationally acclaimed western rock start to perform on Nepali soil.
He has 20 albums to his credit and has been nominated for 15 Grammy awards. He has won the Grammy award for his smash hit single Everything I Do.
